Non Stop Coast To Coast Walk, in aid of Sport Relief.
On the 17th March 2010 I, Russell Ware am rising to the challenge of walking non-stop across Britain. I will walk 150 miles non stop between Whitehaven and sunderland, almost 6 marathons in 48 hours. This is seperate from my round the world attempt but will be good preperation for when i walk across Australia, and all money raised will go to Sport Aid.
The plans simple, I will get a train to Whitehaven in March and follow the cycle route to Sunderland. When I attempted the c2c last year with a broken collerbone. I managed the first 40 miles with a one strap back pack before the pain became too much and I gave up. I followed Wainrights Coast to Coast walk, it was very nice but all the unessescary meandering and hill climbing make it unsuitable for a non stop attempt. So I will be following the c2c cycle route from Whitehaven to Sunderland. I've never sucessfully navigated a cycle route before without getting lost, so this time I will be using my Garmin GPS.
On the 17th you will beable to track me live on this website. Thanks to my Spot Satelite Tracker, my position will be updated every hour. So you can check if I've fallen asleep.
To sponsor the attempt please follow the link below. If you would like to sponsor my Round The World attempt please use the link at the side. Thankyou to everyone who has sponsored me whilst cycling across USA and Europe. I hope to get back on my bike soon, well the end of the year. Before cycling from Romania to Perth and then walking 7 million steps across Australia. Completing TheWrongWayRound.

2 weeks ago I took a train to Scotland and spent 10 days cycling around the the coast. Even though I was on a "normal bike" rather than a recumbent, it was very comfortable thanks to my Riddo saddle. The weather was excellent, it only snowed heavily for one day, although it was well below freezing. However it was the best tour I have ever been on. So I would encourage everyone to get on their bikes an hit Scotland this winter.
For me it was a holiday, but everyone I met thought I was on some crazy endurance challenge. Even getting me an interview on a local radio station. Cycling through amazing scenery on well maintained roads. The only think I did find difficult was locating enough hot cross buns over the bank holidays. And it wouldn't be a real adventure if I didn't get arrested on the train whilst coming home.
I feel a bit of a hypocryte now, after my petition for recumbents. I still think they should be allowed in racing but I will be switiching back to a conventional bike for future tours. Only on the fact that they are cheaper and there are no parts that are hard to come by.
Lands End to John O'Groats, Summer 2010 - 3 recumbent Riders Needed.
I said LeJog 2010 would be different. Well here it is, during the summer of 2010 me and 3 other recumbent riders will cycle the length of the United Kingdom. In turn we will set a new record for the fastest LeJog by quadricycle. There is no current record, so provided the wheels don't fall off and we do finish then the record is our's.
Well thats the theory, currently it's just going to be me on a 4 person bike. Man, woman, old or young but preferably with touring experience, but you will need to be recumbent rider. It took me 6 months to get recumbent legs when i switched from the "normal bike". If you want to be part of this record breaking attempt then please contact me.
With the help of the LeJog Association I can confidently confirm that this has not been attempted before. http://www.quattrocycle.com/ have agreed to sponsor the attempt, they will be providing the unique machine. So all you need to bring is a pair of legs.
Nothing has been planned yet, I thought best to leave that to the other cyclists. My last LeJog went a bit sideways, camping next to main roads, riding during the night and sleeping during the day.
12/12/2009 - Fill That Hole!
Potholes and road defects are more than just a nuisance, they’re a danger to cyclists. They’re responsible for 12% of compensation claims by CTC members, and local Councils have a duty to fix them.
Councils can’t be everywhere, and if they don’t know about a pothole, they can’t fill it in. So if you want to get it repaired, you have to report it.
Fillthathole.org.uk contacts the right people for you, to get the roads repaired quickly and easily.
So you can spend your time riding, not dodging obstacles.
09/12/2009 - The Wrong Way Round
Poor financial planning, broken bones and flights to Japan that i never used meant the WrongWayRound really went wrong. Worsened by the current economic climate and lack of work, I will spend the next year paying of debts and saving for 2011.It's not the end for 2010, but my adventures will be more economic and only in the U.K and Europe. I have been planning a Lands End to John O'groats with a twist, for early next year. Keep checking the website.
As for 2011 I hope to still walk across Australia. Then carry on around the world. Thanks for all the donations, and keep checking the website. LE2JOG 2010 is going to be a bit different. To find out more about my last LEJOG visit, http://www.rmware.50webs.com. But bear in mind that the hair was only for practical use, to keep my head warm.
If anyone wants to offer me a job, feel free to send me an email. I have experience in Refuse, Cleaning, Portering, Litterpicking and ground maintainence, Warehouse operations, fencing and farming.
